Local historian Erin Becker presents a history of the Peconic Bay scallop industry, explaining the place of the scallop in New York City/ Long Island cultural heritage and cuisine. The last two years, the scallop crop has suffered catastrophic failures. How does knowing the history of this industry tell us about where it stands today?
