Event Details
Baseball's most successful franchise had its roots in the 1920s when the New York Yankees established a string of championship teams. At the heart of the team was a lineup that scored runs in bunches thanks to a half dozen sluggers who punished pitchers and became known as Murderer's Row. Those were the Yankees of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, who headed a team than ran away with the pennant in 1927 when they finished 19 games ahead of their nearest competition and swept the World Series in four straight games. Award-winning sports writer Hal Bock discusses the most dominant team in baseball history and the individual players who formed the game's first dynasty.
