Presented by Stony Brook Children’s Hospital’s Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAPP) Program in collaboration with COMPASS Unity.

Drugs, including tobacco and alcohol, are easily available to children and adolescents. As a parent, you have a major impact on your child’s decision not to use drugs. Parents are powerful! Studies show that parents are the strongest influence when it comes to substance use.

Drug abuse prevention starts with parents learning how to talk with their children about difficult topics. Join Maria McCue, Stony Brook Children’s CAPP Health Educator Supervisor and Lacey Donlon, LMSW, School Social Worker, Samoset Middle School, as they provide parents and caregivers with the necessary tools to understand adolescent development, current drug trends and ways to communicate with their teens and young adults about alcohol and drug use.

Part 3 provides parents and caregivers with the tools they need to communicate with their teens and young adults about this topic.
