Event Details

You’ve seen the shows! But do they accurately depict a person with Hoarding Disorder (HD) or are they sensationalizing what is a serious challenge for many people? Have you ever thought, “at least I’m not THAT bad!” while secretly feeling unsettled by the reality those shows portray? Do you wonder if that could be you or someone you care about in five years? ten years? According to a recent Senate Special Committee on Aging Report, Hoarding Disorder “affects as many as 14 million people in the United States, disproportionately older adults”.

In this seminar, Alice Price will discuss: what HD is (and isn’t); the ICD Clutter Hoarding Scale (http://www.challengingdisorganization.org/node/58 ); the difference between collecting and hoarding; common behaviors and problems associated with HD; treatments and coping strategies.

As the only Professional Organizer on Long Island credentialed as a Hoarding Disorder Specialist by the Institute for Challenging Disorganization, Alice has been working with HD clients for over 20 years. Alice Price, CPO-CD®, COC®, CVPO™ is a professional organizer, certified coach and public speaker. She is the president of Organize Long Island, Inc., which she founded in 2002. Since that time, Alice has helped hundreds of Long Islanders regain control of their time, their space, their possessions and their lives
