This lecture will break down acting, from it’s beginnings in the silent era as an offshoot of theater to the development of “method acting” Konstantin Stanislavski. through great American acting teachers like Lee Strasburg, Stella Adler whose pupils went on to create some of the most influential performances ever. We will examine the evolution of acting and through clips, break down some of the great performances in film history, focusing on five: Robert De Niro in Raging Bull; Marlon Brando in On The Waterfront; Meryl Streep in Sophie’s Choice; Bette Davis in All About Eve; and Daniel Day Lewis, in There Will Be Blood.
